Impulsa Mendoza participated in London Metal Exchange Week (LME Week), one of the most significant annual events for the global metals industry. Held every October in London, the event brings together more than 5,000 representatives from across the international metals supply chain.
Over two days, Minister of Energy and Environment Jimena Latorre and Impulsa Mendoza CEO Sebastián Piña carried out an extensive schedule of institutional meetings, including discussions with representatives of London Stock Exchange Group, mining company Rio Tinto, and the University of Oxford.
They also participated in Argentina Day, held at the Argentine Embassy in London, where they highlighted Mendoza’s mining potential and development opportunities.

Argentina Day: Mining Districts and New Financing Tools
At the Argentine Embassy in London, Mendoza’s delegation took part in Argentina Day, titled “Argentina’s Strategic Minerals: Growth and Investment Opportunities.”
The event was attended by Argentina’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Mariana Plaza, and National Secretary of Mining Luis Lucero, alongside government officials, mining companies, financial institutions, and international specialists.
During the event, Mendoza outlined its investment opportunities and key mining projects. Panel discussions addressed infrastructure needs, strengthening the mining value chain, the criteria financial markets use to assess project viability, and the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards required to access global capital.
In his presentation, Sebastián Piña outlined the mining district model being developed by the province and Impulsa Mendoza’s efforts to facilitate exploration, consolidate technical information, and support companies throughout the different stages of their projects.
“In London, we presented the mining district model we are developing in Mendoza, a tool that allows us to organize land use, integrate environmental studies, and facilitate copper exploration through clear rules and greater predictability for companies. Through Malargüe Distrito Minero Occidental and Distrito Minero Mendoza Norte, we are generating technical information, reducing project timelines and costs, and promoting sustainability as a central pillar of mining development in Mendoza,” Piña said.
He also emphasized community engagement, streamlined permitting processes, and the creation of key financial instruments.
“We presented the tools we are developing to improve project competitiveness, including Andean Bridge, designed to connect projects with capital markets, and the Closed-End Investment Fund, which aims to channel financial resources into the mining sector,” he added.
Minister Jimena Latorre highlighted the province’s efforts to position its mining assets in international markets.
“Together with Impulsa Mendoza, we presented the policies the province is developing to stimulate investment, accelerate and encourage mineral exploration, and showcase projects currently underway, such as PSJ Cobre Mendocino. We explained how we are working to address the gaps that hinder industry development in areas such as infrastructure, connectivity, workforce development, and financial vehicles that facilitate access to funding,” Latorre stated.
Partnerships with the London Stock Exchange, Rio Tinto, and the University of Oxford
The institutional agenda included a key meeting with Tom Attenborough, Head of International Primary Markets at London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), to explore cooperation opportunities that could connect Mendoza’s mining projects with international capital markets.
The discussions also covered training programs for local project operators and owners interested in understanding the requirements and mechanisms for listing on these markets.
In another meeting, Latorre and Piña, together with National Secretary of Mining Luis Lucero, met with representatives of mining company Rio Tinto and academics from the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government.
The discussions focused on potential joint initiatives to strengthen institutional capabilities related to sustainable mining development.
An International Agenda That Continues in Mendoza
The London mission marked another step in Impulsa Mendoza’s strategy to establish the province as a regional mining and financial hub and connect projects across the Andean mineral belt with global investors.
The next milestone will take place on October 30 with Mendoza Finance Day, co-organized by Impulsa Mendoza, the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX), and TSX Venture Exchange.
This will be followed by an official London Metal Exchange training program, scheduled for November 2–6 in Mendoza and Buenos Aires through the Mendoza Stock Exchange (Bolsa de Comercio de Mendoza). The program will focus on financial hedging instruments and risk management strategies to address fluctuations in international metal prices.
The year’s agenda will conclude with the Sustainable Mining Summit, scheduled to take place in Mendoza on November 19–20.
