The initiative was carried out as part of the Promoting Knowledge program and enabled Mendoza students to gain firsthand insight into industrial processes, safety protocols, and infrastructure associated with strategic sectors that support the energy transition and regional development.

As part of the Promoting Knowledge program, Chemical Engineering students from the National Technological University (UTN) – Mendoza Regional Faculty participated in a series of technical visits to mining and energy-related facilities in the province of San Juan.

The activity was organized by the Mendoza Association of Chemical Engineering Students (AMETIQ) within the framework of the Extractive Industries – Extraction, Fractionation and Refining course at UTN Mendoza, with the support of Impulsa Mendoza.

During the tour, students visited facilities operated by Provincial Energy Company (EPSE) and the Jáchal plant of CBB Cales – Compañía Minera del Pacífico. The visits provided participants with the opportunity to learn about industrial processes, operational dynamics, safety protocols, infrastructure, and key aspects related to the integrated functioning of these productive activities.

The experience brought future professionals closer to real-world work environments connected to mining, energy, and the foundational industries required for the global energy transition. It also strengthened practical training opportunities and reinforced collaboration between academia and the productive sector.

“Collaboration between education and industry is essential to create capabilities and opportunities for future generations. Experiences like these allow students to gain firsthand knowledge of how strategic industries operate and broaden their understanding of the professional and technological potential these sectors offer for regional development,” said Sofía Raich, Director of Administration, Finance and Sustainable Development at Impulsa Mendoza.

The initiative is part of a broader strategy aimed at strengthening local human capital and promoting educational opportunities linked to strategic sectors for Mendoza. Through training, technical exchange, and engagement between students, educational institutions, and companies, the program seeks to support workforce development and long-term economic growth.

Promoting Knowledge

Promoting Knowledge is a program designed to position Mendoza as a leading hub for sustainable mining, innovation, technical education, and collaboration between the educational system, industry, and local communities.

The initiative seeks to contribute to the development of a mining culture based on knowledge, transparency, dialogue, and sustainability, while promoting a modern and comprehensive perspective on the development of strategic industries within the province.

The program supports actions focused on evidence-based communication, the development of technical and scientific capabilities, stronger collaboration among public, private, and academic institutions, and the training of local talent to expand professional and employment opportunities for Mendoza residents.

In addition, it promotes the development of an integrated and sustainable value chain connected to suppliers, services, innovation, and territorial development, encouraging practices aligned with international standards and the challenges of the global energy transition.

Through training activities, technical visits, educational programs, knowledge-sharing initiatives, and outreach efforts, Driving Knowledge Forward aims to strengthen human capital, expand access to information, and connect students, professionals, and communities with emerging opportunities related to Mendoza’s mining and energy sectors.
