The El Seguro mining exploration project, located in Malargüe, continues making progress during its initial stage, with the completion of key infrastructure works and the development of new technical campaigns in the area.
One of the most significant recent milestones was the completion of the access road, which improves logistics and facilitates the arrival of equipment and personnel to the work site.
In recent days, technical teams from Impulsa Mendoza carried out verification inspections to ensure the operational conditions of the road, while specialized companies involved in geophysical studies also arrived in the area.
Field studies move forward
At this stage, the project combines different exploration methodologies aimed at characterizing the geological potential of the area. On one hand, geochemical work is being conducted through the collection of soil and rock samples to identify the presence of minerals of interest. These samples will later be analyzed in laboratories. At the same time, progress has also been made in evaluating geophysical studies by analyzing the subsurface through measurements of properties such as the terrain’s electrical resistivity.
These tasks involve installing surface devices — such as electrodes or anodes — that make it possible to inject electrical current and obtain indirect information about the composition of the subsurface, helping identify potential mineralized zones. Specialized companies have already visited the area to assess terrain conditions and move forward with the submission of technical and economic proposals for the execution of these activities.
“We are advancing through a key exploration stage that combines different technical tools to improve our understanding of the area. Geochemistry and geophysics allow us to build baseline information that is essential for guiding the next decisions regarding the project,” said Guadalupe López Arce, geologist at Impulsa Mendoza.
A key stage for the project’s development
The current activities are part of an initial phase focused on generating geological and technical information that will allow for a more precise definition of the project’s potential and guide the following exploration stages.
In this sense, the combination of access infrastructure, geochemical studies, and geophysical campaigns represents a fundamental step toward advancing the evaluation of the area under technical criteria and in compliance with current environmental and regulatory standards.
