Mendoza is participating in Argentina Rocks, the country’s first international geological and mining exploration congress, held in Mendoza and bringing together geologists, mining companies, technical experts, researchers, and investors from around the world to discuss the future of mineral resources and exploration opportunities in Argentina.
The stand serves as a technical, institutional, and investment promotion hub where the Government of Mendoza and Impulsa Mendoza are showcasing key initiatives, programs, and recent advances related to the province’s mining sector. The space complements the event’s main agenda with additional activities during networking sessions and conference breaks.
Jerónimo Shantal, Director of Mining at Mendoza’s Ministry of Energy and Environment, highlighted the importance of the event as an opportunity to position Mendoza on the international stage of geological exploration and mining development.
“This is a major opportunity to once again present Mendoza to the world and demonstrate the province’s enormous potential. Mendoza will be at the center of many conversations, not only because of its proximity to some of the most important exploration projects in the world located across the Andes, but also because of its long-standing geological research tradition and the work currently being carried out by the Mining Directorate through the consolidation of its geological database,” said Shantal.
He added: “We are working to gather information and make it available to investors, facilitating their arrival in Mendoza. We believe that geological work and the identification of mineral potential are the first major drivers behind mining investment.”
Sebastián Piña, CEO of Impulsa Mendoza, explained that the goal of the stand is to take advantage of the presence of international industry leaders to showcase the province’s mining, educational, and financial initiatives.
“At Impulsa Mendoza, we are presenting everything we are developing as an institution. During each conference break, our specialists will introduce different initiatives related to Mendoza’s mining development,” Piña stated.

Among the activities scheduled at the stand are technical presentations on Mendoza’s mining districts, including the Malargüe Western Mining District and the province’s new Northern Mining District. These presentations address environmental management, geological potential, and territorial planning strategies. The stand also highlights Mendoza’s geological potential through technical studies and consolidated information developed by Impulsa Mendoza together with industry specialists.
In addition, Impulsa Mendoza will sign an agreement with PSJ Cobre Mendocino to showcase the synergies and collaborative work aimed at advancing both the project itself and the broader mining sector in Mendoza. The organization will also present its “Impulsando el Conocimiento” program, focused on mining education, training, and community outreach, including the virtual learning platform developed by Impulsa Mendoza.
“Another key focus will be the presentation of the public offering closed-end investment fund that Impulsa Mendoza is currently designing to accelerate investment processes and facilitate financing for mining projects across the province,” Piña explained.
Mendoza: A Growing Hub for Geological and Mining Exploration in the Andes
Argentina Rocks is being held at the Sheraton Mendoza Hotel and brings together technical leaders, mining companies, researchers, and public sector representatives connected to geological and mining exploration across the Andean region.
The conference agenda includes presentations on metallogeny, advanced exploration, financing opportunities for junior mining companies, and strategic projects such as Taca Taca, El Pachón, Lunahuasi, and Malargüe Oeste. Panels also focus on geology, tectonics, and mining development across several Argentine provinces.
The opening session was led by Mendoza’s Minister of Energy and Environment, Jimena Latorre, who emphasized the province’s decision to strengthen mining exploration as a strategic pillar for long-term growth.
“Mendoza made the decision to invest in the development of the mining industry and expand exploration activity because that is what will ultimately allow us to have more production projects in the future,” Latorre stated before an audience of professionals, geologists, mining companies, and international specialists attending the event.
