Impulsa Mendoza Concludes the First Module of “Proyecta Proveedores Uspallata” with Strong Participation
The program, developed together with the Mendoza Chamber of Mining Entrepreneurs (CaMEM) and the “Mujeres Que Inspiran” Foundation, is aimed at strengthening business capabilities and creating opportunities for entrepreneurs and SMEs within the mining value chain. “It is extremely important for Impulsa Mendoza to have launched this initiative, especially within the education axis,” highlighted the company’s CEO, Sebastián Piña.
As part of the Impulsando el Conocimiento program, Impulsa Mendoza completed the first module of the training cycle “Proyecta Proveedores Uspallata”, an initiative designed to support supplier development and improve the readiness of entrepreneurs, SMEs and local economic actors to meet the demands of the mining industry.
The program is being implemented together with the Mendoza Chamber of Mining Entrepreneurs (CaMEM) and the “Mujeres Que Inspiran” Foundation, with the goal of providing practical tools to better understand how the sector operates, identify business opportunities and strengthen organizational capabilities in a context of growing mining activity.
The first module, titled “Understanding the Mining Industry and Its Opportunities”, consisted of five in-person sessions held at the Impulsa Mendoza office in Uspallata and included the participation of professionals, business owners and entrepreneurs from different areas of Mendoza.
During this stage, participants explored the key aspects of the mining business, including the project life cycle, supply chain dynamics and the standards governing the industry. The training also addressed the sector’s operational culture, which is based on safety, quality and process standardization, while providing practical tools to help participants identify real supplier opportunities and apply best practices within their own activities.
Impulsa Mendoza CEO Sebastián Piña highlighted the strategic value of the training process:
“At Impulsa Mendoza, we understand that the opportunity presented by mining is approaching. Although it requires time and preparation, it is essential to be ready not only to work in the sector, but also to meet the highest standards of respect for society and sustainability”.
“This first module allowed professionals and entrepreneurs from different sectors — mainly from Uspallata and other areas of Mendoza — to participate in five classes focused on understanding what the mining business is and what its main opportunities are”.
“This process does not end here. It will continue with new modules that will further explore how to prepare our companies, how to financially plan to meet future demands and how to manage risks, with a clear focus on developing a sustainable industry”.
From the training team, Blanca Chávez, Strategic Development Manager at CaMEM, emphasized both the value of the initiative and the commitment shown by participants:
“This initiative developed jointly by Impulsa and CaMEM allowed us to deliver important training for this audience, which is eager to learn”.
Leonardo Fernández, from the Environmental Management and Oversight Department of the Ministry of Energy and Environment, also stressed the importance of the program:
“There are participants from across the province. We even had a local resident involved in tourism who attended to prepare for mining opportunities. The Government of Mendoza is thinking about sustainable mining, with environmental controls that are already a reality today”.
Marcelo González, one of the entrepreneurs who attended all stages of the course, noted:
“I have gained knowledge that may not have been entirely new, but it certainly helps refresh concepts and provides a clearer picture of what needs to be done in such a demanding industry as mining”.
Another participant, Nathaniel Guzmán, added:
“It helps us adapt to the new requirements of the industry, both for residents of Uspallata and for those from Las Heras and Greater Mendoza”.
