Approval by the Mining Environmental Authority enables a strategically important piece of productive infrastructure, framed within the Productive Roads programme and the development of exploration activities in the Malargüe Western Mining District.
Impulsa Mendoza has received formal approval from the Mining Environmental Authority to begin construction of the access road to the El Seguro copper exploration project, located in the department of Malargüe.
The project represents a key item of productive infrastructure, essential to ensuring access, logistics and effective oversight in an area that currently lacks adequate road connectivity. The road is a prerequisite for the development of future mining exploration activities in the zone.
El Seguro is a copper project, a mineral of global strategic importance due to its central role in the energy transition and industrial development. It forms part of the Malargüe Western Mining District I (MDMO I), a comprehensive initiative led by Impulsa Mendoza to organise and promote mining activity under strict environmental, technical and institutional transparency criteria.
The El Seguro road will have a total length of 26 kilometres. The works include the upgrading of the access to Puesto Alaniz along a 6-kilometre stretch that has already been completed, as well as the construction of 20.6 kilometres of new road required to provide safe access to the project area.
According to the established schedule, works to open the route and construct the first bridge over the Pachico stream are set to begin in the second week of December. This bridge is a critical piece of infrastructure to ensure permanent and reliable transit along the corridor.
It is worth recalling that Malargüe Western Mining District I has already completed the citizen participation process and public hearing and has received legislative approval. This establishes the institutional framework for the future development of mining projects in the region, always on a progressive basis and subject to new, project-specific environmental assessments at each stage.
The construction of the El Seguro access road falls within the Productive Roads programme promoted by the Government of Mendoza through an agreement between Impulsa Mendoza and the Dirección Provincial de Vialidad (DPV).
This comprehensive plan provides for total intervention along 460 kilometres, including the maintenance of 380 kilometres of existing roads in the southern part of the province and the construction of 80 kilometres of new routes. The objective is to support productive development, improve territorial connectivity and strengthen the presence of the State.
Within this framework, road infrastructure is conceived as a central pillar of sustainable mining development, enabling orderly land use, effective environmental oversight and ensuring that copper resources are developed in line with rigorous technical, environmental and legal standards.
